Jean-François Fourtou was born in 1964 in Paris, where he studied at the École des Beaux- Arts. He has lived in Madrid, New York, and finally Marrakech, where he established his studio in 1999, and where he developed the installations that have become emblematic of his artistic practice. Opened to the public in 2024, Ramakech is the resulting sculpture park.

Fourtou’s main inspirations are his early childhood, family, and homes. Playfully and poetically, he investigates emotions and dreams, travels in time, and transports visitors into imaginary childhood worlds, employing destabilizing architectural forms, striking shifts in scale, and evocative dreamlike spaces.

By offering an immersive experience in a timeless, imaginary realm, Ramakech is a reminder of the extraordinary power of wonder.
