Papillons Traversée, an animal sculpture Ramakech

Papillons Traversée is one of the most delicate animal sculptures along the Ramakech trail. Set in the heart of the Marrakech Palm Grove, these giant butterflies appear around a wall or a bend in the path, as if suspended mid-flight.

Like the park’s other animal figures, they belong to a family of sculptures born here or arrived over time, alone or in groups, taking over the park’s spaces in a playful, unexpected way.

With this work, Jean-François Fourtou continues an exploration begun across several series: using the animal , here the butterfly, elsewhere the horse or the ant , as a quiet filter for telling, without ever moralising, the stages of a personal journey toward peace.

Papillons Traversée speaks to the other works along the trail, notably the Giant Anthill and the Horse, forming a coherent world where the animal becomes the artist’s mirror.
